Non-profit Organization status
The San Diego Health & Faith Alliance is organized exclusively for the charitable purpose of arranging for the provision of health care and counseling services, free of charge, to the needy of San Diego County, in collaboration with local educational institutions and religious and community service organizations. The San Diego Health & Faith Alliance (SDH&FA) was incorporated in 2003, organized under the Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation Law for charitable purposes. The SDH&FA has received recognition from the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, and is designated as a 501(c)3, non-profit corporation.

The San Diego Health & Faith Alliance will be able to provide service free of charge to those in need in the San Diego area, only to the extent that it receives charitable donations to allow it to do so. While the "service-learners" are not paid for their work, and many people work for the SDH&FA on a voluntary basis, there are many unavoidable costs in the provision of health care and mental health care services. Some examples include the provision of medication to patients, the charges that the SDH&FA will pay in order to provide laboratory testing or x-ray services for patients, the costs of medical supplies and equipment, medical records supplies, and limited faculty costs.
